About the Band of America
Monday, 05 November 2007

Band of America is a volunteer organization composed of nearly 100 adult musicians from the greater Atlanta metro area. We provide an opportunity for  instrumentalists to rehearse and perform challenging musical literature in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Our goal is to produce wind music played at its best, and to open the eyes of many to the limitless possibilities of wind bands.

Band of America was founded in 1948 and performed regularly until the early 1960's (read more about the band's history here). In 2004, a group of original Band of America members, who would later become our Advisory Board, contacted Mr. Ralph Gutierrez, our conductor,  with the proposal to resurrect the Band of America.

Originally the home for the "new" Band of America was Houston, TX; however, after one season, it was decided that Atlanta, GA would offer more opportunities for growth and the band was relocated.  The band began rehearsing at North Atlanta High School in the spring of 2007. Our first concert locally was in November of 2007.

Currently we rehearse 7:00pm - 9:30 pm Wednesday evenings at:

                North Atlanta High School
                2875 Northside Drive NW
